2007 – A Year of Accounting

Whenever we are about to take another step in our journey, as we are about to do in this 9-year (2007), we must review the entire process that has led us up to this point. This means that in this millennium, century and decade with the theme of relationships, we must above all review the nature and quality of our past relationships. This involves assessing whether or not we need to forgive ourselves or others, whether we need to understand the purpose and meaning of any relationships, whether we need to bring healing and wholeness to any relationships. We want to determine if we have withheld something which we need to give, or receive something we have refused. We also need to learn what past relationships have tried to teach us. And finally, we need to assimilate, as souls, the experience we gained, and then give the love, empowerment or understanding as souls that situations have demanded.

The past is not finished until we can face it with complete acceptance and gratitude. We can bring it into the present to do that by recalling it and re-imagining it from a soul perspective. This means finding meaning and purpose in it all. Every 9 year demands this if we are to move forward in an open and creative way. When we do not use and assimilate the past we are bound to repeat it. This is especially true with regard to that for which we are not grateful.

The 9 of 2007 is such a demanding, universal indicator. WORLD is 27/9, suggesting that this year many matters of international scope and universal implications will be brought to the attention of humanity. It requires a great deal of tolerance, acceptance and generosity. When its positive traits are not expressed, the opposites will tend to prevail, leading to increased conflict.

While 9 is not an energy of business it has a business connection in that corporation is a 9. I would suggest that corporations this year must see themselves in a new light, moving away from serving their own selfish purposes to seeing how their role can serve the greater good and benefit all. This is essential to fulfill the real purpose of a corporation and to ensure their survival. Corporations that do not do that may survive, but will go through the negative experience of learning that lesson.

A big question to ask in a 9-year is: has my or our purpose been achieved? What can I or we do to complete our purpose that we have been serving? If you don’t know what you are doing, then at least find out what purpose you have been serving. And be honest about it if it has not been your higher purpose. Then do the other thing required of a 9-year, which is to let go of the lower, self-serving motivations in favour of higher more altruistic service.

9 is a learning year. We ask ourselves: what are the lessons I have learned or can learn from the past 9-years? What has it all been about? How can I, as a soul, or we collectively as a soul called humanity, express our true nature more fully as a result of our recent experiences?

We have to do our spiritual accounting this year. Either we learned something or we didn’t during this cycle of 9-years. By learning I mean that we have expanded our consciousness and, as a result, we can function more fully in some way as a soul in incarnation. The personality, of course, has learned some things, meaning that it has acquired some awareness that it didn’t have before and also perhaps had some new experiences. But that isn’t true learning unless it facilitates the soul’s expression through the form world (physical, emotional or mental) more powerfully, more lovingly or more intelligently.

Exercises:

1. Review the past 9 years of your life and take note of your learning and growth. Express gratitude for all your experiences.

2. Make decisions about letting go of that which does not appear to be necessary for the next cycle of your life – actions, relationships, attitudes, possessions.

3. Reflect on your purpose in life and how it is to be expressed for greater service.
