Discovery and Loss
Finding
something can become equated to loss. We often feel inadequate in some
aspects of our life. We feel something is missing that needs to be
found.
What we
are sensing in our personality feelings and thoughts is an unconscious
glimpse of the truth, beauty and goodness that lie deep within our
souls. We long for this, but when we are unconscious of it we cannot
pursue it and therefore try to make up for it or get it in some other
way. We then fill our daily lives with activities and relationships that
initially appear to satisfy us, but eventually do not. We continue to
feel that something is lacking which is nature’s way of urging us to
seek inwardly for what we need in order to feel whole.
Little by
little we experience some deeper truth, some real connection with the
beauty that exists within ourselves and in others. Once we are able to
perceive these qualities we realize that there is a change that needs to
be made. The discovery of something more real – a new outlook,
perspective or dimension of self or life – demands a letting go of a
lesser attitude, attachment or behaviour.
So
finding something that broadens us becomes easily equated with losing
something that we previously thought, felt, did or believed was right or
valuable. And sometimes we do not really want to let go of what in
effect are limitations – but cherished limitations, or at least familiar
ones that our subconscious and brain have become accustomed to.
Change
and transformation in becoming more soul centered can for many be deeply
challenging – even enough to give up the journey, at least temporarily.
We need to persevere to the point that old conditioning can be changed
and new brain patterns can be established. It is then that we experience
the profound and satisfying benefits of the soul journey.
When we
feel that something is missing in our lives we would benefit by viewing
it as something that can be found – not as something that is actually
lacking, but a potential that can be activated, for that is what it
really is.

Exercises:
1. Notice when you judge another person in a negative way.
This means you have not recognized their inner truth, beauty or
goodness. Attempt to see these qualities of soul in another, and
then let go of the negative judgments you have made.
2. Identify some lack you perceive in yourself or feeling
that you have about yourself. It will likely be related to one
of these soul attributes: truth, beauty or goodness. Identify
which of these is lacking in your perception of yourself that
allows your negative perception to exist. Then focus on and
meditate on this quality until you genuinely experience it
within yourself. Then create a clear affirmation or thought to
repeat frequently to re-condition your subconscious and brain to
the discovery of a truth within yourself. |
