The Leadership of the Heart
Maximum well-being and efficient soul expression is possible when
our heart and brain are in synch with each other. There is a
natural tendency to create this synchronization because of the
principle of entrainment, which is found everywhere in life.
Through this principle the strongest rhythm (positive or
negative) brings lesser rhythms into synch with it. The heart has
the strongest rhythm in our bodies, and therefore brings all
other organs into harmony with it – unless we interfere in the
process. This interference is commonly experienced when we are
anxious, stressed, in a negative emotional state, or when we
insist on using our brain to the exclusion of the heart.
There are several things that we can do to bring head and heart
into harmony and establish the leadership of the heart. We need
to learn to manage our thoughts and emotions – which much of the
Soul Journey training does. We need to develop a positive focus
that we can use whenever we are anxious or stressed. And, we can
work at understanding and eliminating the obstacles to head-heart
synchronization.
But perhaps the most powerful thing that we can do is to focus
on, and internalize, specific soul qualities. The spiritual soul
within is a trinity of power, love and light, but the essence of
soul is love.
When we focus on various love qualities – such as compassion,
acceptance, gratitude, caring, forgiveness, appreciation, etc. –
we put our heart into a state of harmony with our essential
nature, our universality, the soul.
Every expression of gratitude, every thought of appreciation,
every act of forgiveness, every caring gesture – brings soul into
the personality, aligns head and heart, and creates an enhanced
state of well-being in our bodies.
Exercises:
1. Take five minutes and focus on something for which you are
grateful. Feel gratitude and allow the soul energy to awaken
within you.
2. Later today reflect on the need for forgiveness – toward
yourself or another – and open your heart in thoughts and
feelings of forgiveness and acceptance. Experience the
difference within you after you have done so. |
