Learning

You have a purpose for being here. Do you know what it is? If not, are you interested in finding out? To know the purpose of something is to know why it exists and what contribution it must make. Purpose, by definition, is a contribution to that which something or someone is part of.

A primary purpose of all human beings (humanity) is to be intelligent. This involves four things:

a.) knowing the laws that govern the form world (physical, astral, mental)

b.) contacting higher realities (universal ideas)

c.) expressing those universal ideas in particular appropriate expressions in thoughts and words

d.) acting according to these

When we do these four things we are living according to the Law of Right Human Relations; we are being intelligent; and we are contributing to the planetary life in a very positive, preserving and creative way. We would thereby relate to other human beings in co-operative, respectful ways. We would relate to our environment and the other kingdoms in a way that would be healthy and respectful as well.

In general, the law that governs every personality purpose is the Law of Learning. This means that learning must always be given priority in every experience.

Learning can take different forms:

a.) It can take the form of gaining knowledge about something. This personality learning opens you to soul understanding and higher intelligence.

b.) It can involve letting go of attachments to something or someone thus allowing greater freedom. Attachment is a form of controlling. This personality learning opens you to altruism and unconditional love and acceptance – soul qualities.

c.) It can involve opening up to others’ energies and to what is, which usually involves letting go of your own ideas or thoughts of how something or someone should be. This personality learning opens the heart and enables true love to be present.

d.) It can involve being receptive to inspiration and to soul impulses. This personality learning motivates you to take action and manifest that which comes from soul.

Learning takes place on a personality level through challenges in relationships – relationships with others and with our own soul. When learning takes place it results in right relations – especially right relationship toward oneself, but also right relationship toward others. Personality learning creates the conditions necessary for manifestation of soul energies and fulfilment of soul purpose. It sets the stage for soul impression and soul integration.

Happiness is a result of fulfilling your purpose. Happiness emerges through learning and giving, and through learning and service. Fulfilment of purpose assures authenticity – which means being yourself on all levels.

Exercises: 1. Evaluate yourself with regard to the four ways of being truly intelligent. 2. Of the four different forms that learning can take, which are your strengths, and which are your weaknesses? 3. Think of a particularly challenging situation in your life, and decide which form of learning will help you overcome the challenges most effectively.
