Conditions Affecting Our Responses to Life
When examining our human condition and how we handle our lives,
there are always three factors involved which must be considered:
a.) the degree of soul presence and activation
b.) our psychological condition and ability
c.) our physical condition, including the condition of
various parts of our brain
The soul presence and activation is directly related to our
overall state of consciousness, as well as the current state that
can be activated. This is usually facilitated or restricted by
either our psychological state or our physical state. There may
be karmic realities affecting this.
Our psychological condition and ability is the current state of
our mental and emotional bodies – the kinds of thoughts we think,
our attitudes and feelings about ourself and about what is
happening in our life, the conditioning we have had that we have
not addressed and the shadow side of ourself that we have
avoided. Our beliefs also determine the psychological condition
and how it enhances or inhibits us. There may also be karmic
conditions affecting this.
Our physical condition, especially the state of our brain, has a
huge effect both on our personality reaction to situations as
well as on our ability to express soul qualities. There may be
genetic factors involved, karmic factors, and prior experiences
affecting brain and body.
The above conditions will influence and qualify how we respond to
life and experience. They form the background to the more
immediate challenges we experience that are necessary for our
growth.
Every day of our lives we are being challenged to express who we
are in an appropriate way according to the need that exists at
the moment. Challenges are then opportunities to do just that,
but often we do not take advantage of them. Sometimes this is
because we are lazy, indifferent, self-centered or ignorant of
what is required. We do not get challenged unless we are able to
meet the challenge.
Each challenge that we face, we experience because of one or more
of the following:
a.) we are separate
b.) we are ignorant
c.) we have not loved in some particular aspect of our life
d.) we have not aligned our personality will with the soul within
When we accept a challenge as an opportunity for growth and
expression we do one or more of the following. Each challenge
that we go through and learn from:
a.) we let go of some separatism
b.) we overcome some ignorance
c.) we grow in love
d.) our personality will is aligned with the universal or
soul (i.e., we make choices aligned with truth or reality)
Meeting our challenges successfully results in experiences of
soul activation – growing in love, wisdom, understanding or
power.
Challenges exist for a variety of reasons that include the
following:
a.) Balancing conditions that have been unbalanced. This can
be seen as karma.
b.) Learning something necessary for the further unfoldment
of the person. This is a natural evolutionary impulse that
works at overcoming the limitations imposed on oneself by
ignorance, by withdrawal from social connection and by not
expressing oneself.
c.) Restoring well-being when illness or disease exists.
d.) Healing relationships when disharmony exists.
e.) Clearing pathways of expression for soul qualities that
are needed.
f.) Becoming more creative in fulfillment of a person’s life
purpose.
g.) Restoring order where disorder exists.
h.) Becoming at times more independent and at other times
more interdependent.
i.) Restoring virtue when vice exists.
j.) Bringing thought into alignment with soul.
k.) Aligning understanding and behaviour with universal laws.
l.) Awakening conscience for moral choices.
m.) Motivating the expression of personality and soul purposes.
n.) Overcoming fear and separation in order to experience
greater unity.
o.) Teaching or expressing unconditional love.
p.) Making connection with the universal and trusting in its
intelligence and love.
q.) Learning that soul is present within us and everyone and
that each being is divine.
r.) Discovering our uniqueness and appreciating our personal
contribution to life.
s.) Supporting others when they need support.

connection? What can you do to overcome this challenge?
2. In what part of your life do you lack understanding? What
can you do to overcome this challenge?

to empower yourself and others?
4. Where is love lacking in your life? Resolve to express
