Soul Service
To be of
service to others is to assist people in developing soul consciousness,
which means activating the potential of their essence so that they can
be more fully who they really are in essence. In this way people fulfill
the purpose for which they have incarnated and make a contribution to
the world in which they live. To be of service therefore requires us to
develop and express the three primary soul energies: understanding, love
and power.
Let me
explain very briefly what I mean by these as they are a little different
when applied to soul than when we use these words applied to personality
realities.
- Understanding. In a soul sense this means that when we
understand something or someone we take them into ourselves. Now we
cannot take others into our personality self, but we can in our soul
self. ‘I can only understand you when I take you into me and
experience you as you.’ But we will not deliberately take anyone or
anything into ourselves unless we can appreciate them and see them
as beautiful. And we will not appreciate them or see them as
beautiful unless we appreciate ourselves and see ourselves as
beautiful. If we do not appreciate and see someone or something as
beautiful we automatically relate to some characteristics that we do
not appreciate and we therefore do not see the beauty, so we fail to
understand what is before us.
- Love. Understanding is a prerequisite to love. We cannot
love unconditionally, which is what soul love is, without taking
someone into ourselves and experiencing them as they are.
Unconditional love is union with the other as they are. But we
cannot love anyone unconditionally unless we see them as totally
beautiful. We only love what we see as beautiful. So soul
understanding has nothing to do with ourselves, and soul love has
nothing to do with ourselves. It is all about the other, perceived
and related to in their inherent beauty.
- Power. Power as a soul energy means we are connected to
soul and as a result are consciously connected to the life energy
that creates and sustains everything. Soul energy within us it
always seeks to empower others. This means that we honour, respect
and support the life energy in others so that it can create, unfold
itself and express through the other person in a way that is unique
to that person. This also has no reference to ourselves.
The Soul Journey enables us to activate these three soul energies and
express them in our daily life and in our service to others. Doing so is
as deeply fulfilling as it is empowering to others.

Exercises:
1. Examine your service to specific others from the point of
view of expressing the three soul energies of understanding,
love and power.
2. When you understanding something, ask yourself if this is
personality understanding only, or also soul understanding.
3. When you love, ask yourself if this love is conditional or
unconditional.
4. When you feel powerful and express yourself powerfully ask
yourself if your expression empowers others. |
