The Veil We Must Penetrate
There is a psychic veil within us that separates our outer and
inner life. This veil is periodically penetrated through insights
and inspirations. As we expand consciousness this veil becomes
thinner and we can then more easily move our awareness between
our inner and outer life, having greater access through will or
choice to the power, love and light that we have within.
When things in our outer life are going really well we usually do
not want to pay attention to our inner life, for we are content
and comfortable. This is typically experienced, for example, when
we are having great success in our work or our economic life, or
are newly in love. Basically, this is when we are not being
challenged. What we do not realize at these times is that the
longer we neglect attention to the archetypal or soul source of
that success or love, the greater will be the need to reconnect
with it later.
Whatever outer success we are experiencing the greater the need
is to use it for soul expression. And if this is not done, a deep
need is being created. If that need is not recognized and then
fulfilled from a soul level, the success becomes a negative
reality, and our love either disappears or becomes mundane.
When you love someone, nourish that love from deep within. Let it
be a love that is generous, sacrificial, noble and empowering.
Avoid turning it into a selfish feast for unfulfilled needs.
When you are experiencing success or happiness, constantly add
greater quality and universality to it by being of greater
service and presence. Use it as a joyful expression that fulfills
real needs in the world around you. Avoid pride, selfishness and
superficiality. It is never the personality alone or the outer
world forces and values that have given you what you have.
Also at times, when things are going badly we might ignore the
inner life. The outer is always created by the inner. Recognize
this, value and appreciate the source and nourish the connection
to the inner life with the awareness of purpose that comes from
all soul impulses toward expression and fulfillment.
Whenever anything external is experienced, there is always a
specific inner connection we can make. This takes deliberate
focus and intention. However, there is also the ongoing need to
cultivate our inner soul life so that we always have that inner
connection. Our outer life is constantly nourished and guided by
the support and wisdom that is always present within. We can do
this by being open to the soul presence of nature, others and
experiences or by meditating on soul qualities so that we can see
them and experience them in our daily life. We can also cultivate
this inner life and have it connect to our outer expression by
focusing on specific experiences and questioning deeply what
their meaning and purpose might be. The ultimate way of keeping
the inner connection is to identify with soul, our essence, as
who we really are, and seeing our outer life as simply an
expression of that identity showing us what and where changes
need to be addressed.
Exercises:
1. What do you do to cultivate your inner life? What more will
you do?
2. Develop a practice of examining the possible meaning or
purpose of specific experiences you have. |
