Victim Mentality
The new
science of epigenetics disproves the widely promoted and accepted idea
that genes determine our experiences, and determine who we are. It is
totally untrue!
The worst
possible view of our lives involves the belief that we are victims –
victims of our heredity, victims of circumstances, victims of
terrorists, victims of pollution, victims of the power elite, victims of
people around us… the list is endless when you have a victim mentality.
The worst belief of all is that we are victims of our own genes.
What does
then control our experiences? It is our very self, what we call the
soul, which is the essence of who we are. Does it not make sense that
the essence of someone, or something, is what determines what happens
within that being? This is true in all of nature, so why not in humans?
We are not the physical body so why should something physical like genes
control us?
Genes
become activated from outside themselves – the environment included, but
especially the mind. It is through the influence of mind with what we
think and believe that triggers our experiences.
It is
mind that not only activates genes to function in specific ways, but
also mind that activates the influence of the greatest inner
environmental factor – the soul, our essence. When mind is an accurate
medium of expression for the love, intelligence and power of soul, then
the genes respond accordingly and we find that soul then does control
what is experienced within our bodies and within our lives. This makes
everything in our personal being and life a meaningful and coordinated
expression of meaning and purpose.
The gene
theory of causation makes us victims. And we are anything but victims.
When we don’t want to take responsibility for our experiences, nor
connect with our own soul, then we like to blame something for the
experiences we don’t like.
Know that
you are totally free to be the soul that you are through expressing its
beautiful qualities in your thoughts and beliefs, and then to experience
soul in your everyday choices and life.
